Silicon Photonics Design Engineer

What You'll Do


We need an inventor who is passionate about how silicon photonics can transform the world of communications. Using the technology developed in one of the world’s premier foundries, you’ll expand the photonic device library used to build Cisco’s next-generation optical transceiver modules. To deliver high-performance and manufacturable optical circuit designs, you’ll architect, simulate, and validate novel photonic devices and subsystems and characterize their performance.

Because you’ll gain insight into all aspects of transceiver manufacturing – the CMOS process, opto-electronic circuit design, high-speed test systems, light source, and packaging – you’ll have ample opportunities to identify process and design improvements to push the performance of the photonic SOCs to their physical limits. Your innovative ideas will be key for Cisco’s leadership in optical interconnect technologies.

When you work with us, you’ll be part of an inventive and collaborative team who solves critical puzzles to enable each new product. Our team members come from all over the world and their approaches to solving daily challenges is just as diverse. You will also collaborate with the electronic circuit design and packaging teams and identify design trade-offs to optimize product performance.
