There are indeed certain historical events that add creedence to your view of our present situation.

There are those who predict that Trump will recover, will be re-elected, that the current trade spat with China will escalate into a limited armed conflict in the south China sea as the result of an encounter between Chinese aircraft anf US naval vessels. There will be losses on both sides, including a US aircraft carrier, but the conflict will likely not lead to nuclear exchange. The conflict will be recorded historically as the end of the American Empire and the emergence of SouthEast Asia as the new center of world power. The situation domestically within the US will continue to deteriorate with anarchy and millions of hand guns, automatic weapons and munitions becoming the power within a fragmented structure of villages and fifedoms after the cities are destroyed and abandoned.
