Abstract: DustPhotonics, a leading developer of silicon photonics technology and solutions, has launched the industry's first commercially available 1.6Tb/s DR8 application silicon photonics engine targeting artificial intelligence (AI) and hyperscale data centers. The engine is now available for sample testing.

MODI'IN, Israel, September 5, 2024 – DustPhotonics, a leading developer of silicon photonics technology and solutions, today announced the launch of the industry's first commercial 1.6Tb/s DR8 uses a silicon photonics engine and targets artificial intelligence (AI) and hyperscale data centers. The engine supports 8 channels, each of which can operate independently up to 224G/channel. Plus, there's another version that supports 4 channels for 800Gb/s DR4 application.

Both versions of the silicon photonics engine integrate an on-board laser mounted on an emitting photonic integrated circuit (PIC) using DustPhotonics' patented L3C™ (Low Loss Laser Coupling) technology. The engine offers a number of benefits to transceiver vendors, including simplified transceiver design, low power consumption, low optical loss, low overall cost, and enhanced supply chain scalability.

These products will support a wide range of AI and hyperscale data center applications. The standard product is suitable for distances of up to 2 km. There is also a low-cost version for short-range applications up to 100 meters, which will use a single laser instead of two lasers at 1.6Tb/s operation. In addition, these products are ideal for linear receive optical (LRO) and linear pluggable optical (LPO) transceiver applications, as well as for use in immersion cooling applications.

The products are currently available for sample testing and will be in mass production by the end of this year.

Yoel, Chief Financial Officer, DustPhotonics "We are very pleased with the performance of this 224G/channel product, and we have successfully demonstrated error-free links," said Chetrit. We believe 2025 will be an exciting year for DustPhotonics as we roll over the existing Carmel 200G/channel products are added to the 400G and 800G portfolios. ”

Vladimir, CEO of LightCounting "We are seeing an increase in the adoption of silicon photonics, and recently we have significantly revised our forecast for 1.6T modules in 2025," Kozlov said. With the release of its 1.6T engine, DustPhotonics is well positioned to cater to these two important industry trends. ”

DustPhotonics plans to showcase the engine at the upcoming ECOC trade show in Frankfurt, Germany, September 23-25, 2024, at booth #B74. In addition, ECOC attendees were invited to attend Ronnen, CEO of DustPhotonics Lovinger's keynote presentation, "1.6 Tb/s Silicon Photonics in Immersion Cooling Environments," will be delivered on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
