PEM mentions the Carlin Trend on thier website.
The Carlin Gold Trend is one of the worlds richest gold mining districts. It is a belt of gold deposits, that is 5miles wide & 40 miles long, extending in a NNW direction thru the town of Carlin, Nevada.Gold was 1st discovered in the 1870s & from 1909 to 1964,there was only 22K oz of gold produced.By 2008 the mines had produced over 70M oz,worth about $85B US at 2010 prices.
I googled this on Wikipewdia and is a short summary of what I read.Thought it would be of interest,we can only hope for this to come true for PEM
