This month’s new recommendation, Premium Exploration, controls a vast, 160-square-kilometer property in Idaho named, appropriately enough, the Idaho Gold pro- ject. Having recently gone through a share rollback, the company has brought on a new management team and attracted a new set of investors. Both the management team and the investors have been attracted by a new plan to develop the underground potential of Friday, the proper- ty’s main, resource- hosting target. The story of gold development in Idaho should sound familiar to you. I added Midas Gold to our list last year based on the multi-million-ounce resource it is develop- ing at Golden Meadows, a gold- antimony project that sits on trend, 90 miles to the south of Premium’s project. The plan that Premium’s new management team has developed for its Idaho project is somewhat different than the large-scale, open-pit operation that Midas envisions at Golden Meadows. It seems that the prior man- agement at Premium was so focused on developing the known, open-pittable resource at Friday that it missed clear evidence of two higher-grade feeder zones that appear to lie below the sur- face resource. Premium’s new management team believes it has the opportunity to quickly outline and develop this underground sec- tion. The company’s feeder-zone model posits Upper and Lower Friday zones, with the overall structure defined by more than 60 historic intercepts with gold assays of 6 g/t or higher over intervals of at least 1.5 meters. Premium identified this structure based on a re-evaluation of the drill data used to create an NI 43- 101 compliant resource estimate back in May 2012.
Hole 10 provided the highlight hole from the existing data on the Lower Friday Zone, which lies at a depth of approximately 600 feet. This hole cut 198.4 meters of 2.66 g/t gold, including narrower inter- vals of 3.81 g/t gold over 121.1 meters, 9.16 g/t gold over 25.3 meters and 30.6 g/t over 1.8 meters. The Upper Friday zone was defined using data left behind by a Cyprus-Amax/Kinross drilling program. Hole C008 intersected 7.33 g/t gold over 16.7 meters, including a 1.6-meter interval grading 52.1 g/t. Hole PC010 included a 68.6-meter intersection grading 4.58 g/t gold and narrower intervals grading 12.1 g/t over 19.8 meters and 75.1 g/t over 1.5 meters. Just this month, Premium began work on a 12-hole, 5,000- meter drilling program designed to better outline these high-grade zones. To test the Lower Friday zone, the company is drilling to an average depth of 400 meters. It is targeting the Upper Friday zone with 100-meter drill holes. The first drill hole from this program has already come back from the lab, and it’s a dandy. Hole 1, drilled to test the Lower Friday zone, intersected 151 meters of 2.69 g/t gold and narrower inter- vals of 54.1 meters grading 5.62 g/t and 9.14 meters grading 15.2 g/t. The assays have yet to come back from the lab on Hole 2, but visual inspection of the core indi- cates that it intersected that same type of mineralization as Hole 1. Two additional holes have been drilled on the Lower Friday zone, and the drill is now testing the continuity of the Upper Friday zone.
Thus, I expect more good results in the near term, which means this stock could go higher soon. I therefore recommend that you begin to accumulate a speculative position, bearing in mind that stock from a cheap, $0.05 financing late last year (which I was fortunate enough to participate in) comes free trading on March 21. And while that event could bring on some price weakness, the question is, from what price level will that weakness come? Bottom line: Based on recent results, I rec- ommend building a starting posi- tion now, and looking to late March as a time to consider more aggressive purchases. With Premium rated a buy, I won’t be able to sell any of my position when the restricted stock becomes free trading. But others probably will, and this should pro- vide a great entry opportunity.
