You couldn't be more right!
In prospecting and exploration the term "clearing a showing" is used when an outcrop of rock has been determined to be of interest usually by channel sampling in the early stages. Clearing a showing refers to clearing any overburden which can include trees, soil (usually glacial till) and boulders etc. to get down to the host rock so the geologists can get a better look.
One look at the Golden Mile puts me in awe. They have done some SERIOUS work to expose the quartz-carbonate veins (host rock) and it appears that the majority of the exposed showing to date is swimming with visible gold. A rare find indeed "I think they are on to something big"
