Bottom line - yes, major demand by PP buyers - otherwise it wouldn't have happened. They couldn't buy that many shares on the open market without making the price go crazy - and bidding up their own costs.
This puts both somewhat of a floor under $3.80 (not bulletproof of course), and also an elastic band on $3.80 for a while - barring great results.
Usually the company wants their PP customers to be happy in the weeks afterwards - i.e. they want to bring the market good news.
