Sometimes I wonder how the various gold mines were discovered and not Hercules with golden mile etc. Was is by accident or by outcrops here and there. From photos of the region there appears to be pretty heavy overburden so it makes sense that there are still undiscoverd veins in the region. With seveal past operting mines you would think that people must have walked through the forests and been looking for signs of gold.
Specially from those of you from that region, I wonder if you know of any written history of how these past mines were discovered. People in the old days had more time on their hands to bush around, they did trapping etc so they overall probably spent more time looking around for gold. But still, they did not have any of the modern electro magnetic means so most likely they only found gold from outcrops or by accident by digging for some other reasons.
