Gold ounces in KXL's Golden Mile
Thanks to Longbomb and red911 for figuring KXL's length of the Golden Mile. Using Longbomb's 6.5km GM length & my own estimate of an overall average grade of 15g*m (grade in an equivalent 1 meter thick vein) & Brian Maher's 2km rule-of-thumb depth number from the latest .pdf (You can see that all the units cancel out except ounces of gold):
6500 meters KXL GM length x 2000 meters GM depth
x average normalized grade 15 (grams / tonne)*meter
x vein rock density 2.6 tonnes / (meter x meter x meter)
x conversion to troy ounces of 1 ounce/31 grams
x adjustment factor of 0.4 (40% rock efficiently mineable)
= 6.54 million ounces Gold
------------------------------------...
KXL Share Price - Portion based on Golden Mile only
6.54 million ounces gold
x price of gold in the ground of $150 / ounce
/ 88 million KXL shares
= $11.15 KXL share price for just the Golden Mile.
And yes, the grades could get better and the Golden Mile could be deeper and this doesn't cover any other Elmhirst veins or any other KXL prospect.
I'd like to see even a better answer as to exact length of the GM - I do remember hearing from KXL staff that SGX's extent is 1.6 km, so it's still a bit unclear to me. I guess I could do that myself with Photoshop and the lat/long add-on to google earth.
For reference on the length figures (I can see Longbombs as a picture so I preferred that one):
