I too find it hard to hit the sell button, so often I use a soft sell by putting a stop loss under someting I am considering selling, or frequently 2 stop losses. I bought DSX in Nov, as an example, and put a stop about a buck under it. When it gained, I split the stop in two, and increased the stop on half the shares, leapfrogging the stops as the SP went up. This went very well, and my stops were taken out in Dec after gains of about 70% plus a dividend. I could have made 10-20% more by selling a day or two earlier, but also could have missed out on a lot of the gain by selling soon after it broke to positive territory. It is by no means perfect, but helps me take a bit of the emotion out by rationally deciding that if the SP declines to a certain point, whether I am in the green or not, I will sell. I need to do this more often!
BTW, Tau, if I remember, you have some geo background. I have a question on the VAN board, maybe take a run at it if you have any ideas.
Cheers!
