Yes, I was asking the same question a while back. Something happened! Somebody picked up a lot of shares, and looking at the trading that day, it seems that about $1m fresh money was put in.
What was that all about?
On first thought, could be a trading maneouvre - steathily buy a bunch in the 50's, pop it up, and sell it in the 70's. However, the volume the next weeks, when the price was high, was too low to sell the shares acquired on the 21st. So didn't work as a trading maneouvre.
So then a market maker? Someone saying they had a million extra in the kitty, and the 50's is the wrong price for this stock? Doesn't seem convincing. Moderate effect. A maybe.
A news leak that went awry? There was that Athabaska acquisition NR shortly afterwards - someone might have figured it would make a huge pop, which it didn't.
Someone big putting a position on? Odd way to do it.
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when the trade was made.
Regarding my own trades, I have been known to press the wrong button! I once dropped 50k KXL shares doing that, but bought them back quickly, no worries.
July 21 = Mystery. More guesses?
