The Newfie Walking Stick and why KXL has risen

posted on Sep 11, 2009 01:52PM

good posts, all of you. Portee - agreed - gold may see $800 again, it's a plaything of the investment banks + central bank reserves. Hilarious to read that gold ETF units can be used to satisfy delivery by gold shorts - thanks for the post here to that effect. But then the investment banks always had an infinite supply of "gold" from the central banks, that are happy to "lend" out the same gold 15 times over. However - the gold price chart is making a perfect shape - whatever it's called - the newfie walking stick? - of tighter and tighter variations around a price level (roughly 975), which is a classic preparation for a breakout - either up a lot or down a lot. The general stock markets are rising and rising (S&P at a high) against a wall of worry - but unemployment, low consumer spending and dollar doubts are pulling the other way. Who wins when? Does KXL seriously rise and then the markets deflate, or do the markets deflate and then KXL rises seriously?

KXL has risen 50% recently because - pretty simple - the 50 cent range was the usual Summer yearly low (I did call that one) when everyone is sitting waterside with the kids. The big rise now is, at least in my modest opinion :) because we all know a pretty good news release is coming out, plus exploration stocks are starting to get a bit of respect again, what with the commodity boom. The Chinese continue to need minerals and are happy to buy buy buy overseas in-the-ground assets, for one. There is also a record amount of $$ on the sidelines looking to go somewhere ... so about how money on the sidelines going towards getting our market cap to $250M, as one of you put it? Management is definitely thinking a lot on exactly that - if only because Brian M would very much like to have his stock options in the black. I like that.

Another day in the 80's! Puts a smile on my face. Great posts, keep them coming ...
