Funny, I am in a similar boat. As a summer student I worked a year in a radio isotope institute in Europe, and on the last day on the job they put me in a lead shielded box for probably 1/2 hour and counted all the radiation I was giving off; passed with no problems. By the way I do not know what they would have done if I did not pass, shoot me? So yes maybe they lied.

Then later I did quite a lot of work with X-rays and wondered if I would ever be able to have kids, and even worse would they have any defects. All good so far.

A few years after that I visited some uranium processing facility over a couple of years for some contract work. Yes, every time you left you had to put your hands into some radiation detecting devices, some times they beeped but usually because I did not hold my hands still enough.

In spite of these tings I still have all parts, but no grand children yet. I probably should sue someone.

To make this rample on-topic, what is the ground and water flow situation in the area where we are drilling for uranium; can we experience the same problems as Cigar Lake. By the way, how bad is the situation there, it looks to me like an extremely difficult thing to sort out(1 km down, nearly 100 atmosphere of hydrostatic head), ground like Swiss Cheese.
