Hi
At the PDAC last year I asked 15 junior mining reps at their booths the question regarding releasing of material information. Without any notable exceptions their response can be summed up as follows. Material information is supposed to be released in a timely manner. However, there is considerable leeway given as long as the information is not impacting on the shareprice either negatively or positively.
Many companies try to time the releasing of their results to be as advantagous as possible. For example, NOT released a flurry of news releases leading up to climax of the takeover bid for FWR. The stock exchanges in Canada are so loosely regulated and poorly policed that there is no limit to the number of reasons a company can use to justify the timing of their news releases.
