Think there's a problem in the riddle write-up, Ganalane.
The polar bear riddle has been around a long time. The main version is, your cabin is at the north pole. Then:
a) you walk "A" miles south
b) you walk "B" miles east or west - makes no difference how far or which direction - you're just circling the pole
c) you walk "A" miles north, getting back to the north pole
So the 4 miles in your writeup doesn't work. Good notion though. Enjoy your cabin on the north pole as long as you can - the ice floating will carry it away pretty quick.
