Just read today's Gartman Letter. I hope I don't sound like too much of a disciple. I like his insight though and here is a thought I hadn't considered. There was a massive quake to hit Tokyo in '89. 2 weeks later, the Japanese (assuming individuals, corps and perhaps gov'ts) began selling their international equities to pay for reconstruction. What would you or I do if our house, business etc were destroyed? We would likely start selling assets to rebuild. Yes, insurance would also kick in, but I have also read that the Japanese are far underinsured as compared to N. Americans. I don't know how much the Japanese own in N. America, but if a good portion was sold, it would likely heavily ipact the markets. There was a pretty big correction on Oct 13, '89. It isn't blamed of the Japanese selling, but one wonders if it didn't help contribute. Anyhow, Gartman doesn't predict a collapse in N.American markets, but does think the Japanese market is going t be a place to be (and it hasn't been a good place in years!).

Something to think about.

Have a good weekend, nice to see the PDG price pop!
