I feel that you are right in saying that it is a political move. To me this is another of many positive indicators which leads me to believe that the Quebec shale play will be successful. Otherwise there would be a plethora of other well qualified candidates which probably should have had the job. I think that it is a very positive move.
My other thought for the day is concerning the managements ability to time news. I do not think that it was a coincidence that Binnion was on BNN yesterday. More than likely he looked at the schedule of guests (or someone told him) and noticed two consecutive guests, who in the past had good things to say about QEC, were going to be on tv. The news release (which might have been that rumor that was floating around last friday) was then scheduled for release on the second day with a video-conference interview by the CEO. If this is indeed how things were arranged ( I am only speculating here), then it was pure genius on the managements part!
