I watched the interview on CBC Newswolrd yesterday @ 6:30 Est. (Program - CBC:News Business).
They did a short piece about natural gas in Quebec. I did not hear anything new and it was mostly a brief review of the SLL natural gas play.
The host talked about Quebec’s abundant hydro electric power and how the find in the SLL could make Quebec self sufficient in natural gas as well. It was explained that new fracturing technology, which has unlocked natural gas in shale formations in the south, could be used to recover gas in the SLL.
It was stated that the fracturing technique will need to be modified and may not work, but if it does the rewards are great. Binnion talked about 13 wells have been drilled, some good some bad, and that 20 are needed to determine the economics. He stated that the top half of the wells need to pay for the bottom half plus profit.
Joseph Schachter made an appearance and commented on gas metro's desire for the play to work are supporting development. Binnion also commented on the possible delays caused by the economic slowdown and reduced budgets. The piece concluded with them saying that questerre has major partners, 50 million in cash, and no debt and is willing to wait for the payoff.
This is what I can remember and may be inaccurate. Please feel free to correct any mistakes or omissions.
