Alberta, long hailed as Canada's oil-producing giant, lags behind Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador in terms of the provinces that petroleum executives prefer to deal with, according to the institute's Global Petroleum Survey 2009, which ranks the "investment climate" of 143 oil- and gas-producing regions.
