I would hope that Talisman and Forest will take advantage of the Quebec governments 5 years no tax plan. I read that the tax savings is capped up to $800,000 per well, which is still absolutely huge. They have to be placed on production before Jan 1, 2011. This is quite significant, considering drilling up to 500 wells can easily be done in a full production scenario. Quebec also being the cheapest place to drill, should also help. I can't see how the majors could turn that down over their other projects. Being able to save hundreds of millions if they take advan. of this no tax plan, I don't know why they wouldn't jump on it. You really don't see this kind of opportunity for producers anywhere else...very rare. And being able to save that kind of revenue should be important, especially in times like this. Hopefully they really push for it.
