Weather may help pare natural gas stockpile
The eastern half of the U.S. will probably have colder-than-normal weather this winter, which may help pare a record stockpile of natural gas, WSI Corp., a private forecaster, said Monday. "With record natural gas inventories entering the winter, the expected colder-than-normal January in the consuming East could help to balance supply by lowering inventories," Paul Flemming, an analyst with Energy Security Analysis, said in the WSI report. Lower temperatures would boost demand for natural gas as a heating fuel, which accounts for about 21 percent of total U.S. consumption. About 52 percent of U.S. households rely on natural gas for heat. —Bloomberg News, November 23, 2009
