The consequences of a large increase in electric car in North America will eventualy be felt on the power grid wich means imo that fewer electricity will be available for other needs , raising the need for alternative sources of energy .
Quebec's electricity being fully integrated in the north american market should then see a major part of it's production being exported to the US and Nat gas should play an increase role in energy production here and elsewhere across North America as both countries try to reduce pollution especialy from elctricity coal production in the US .
In order to sustain the power need in the eastern part of Canada Where the power grid is logisticaly built to answer cyclical needs through electricity sharing , governments in those provinces will have to encourage alternative sources of energy .
Shale gas should also play a major role as the economy will start picking up in the second half of the decade especialy in the more densely populated northern US states where the weather is also colder . Electricity coal production is the major source of pollution in that part of the US .
I believe the government and business community here in Quebec as elsewhere across North America are well aware of that situation meaning the shale gas industry in Quebec as nowhere else to go but forward .
