Exactly the point we've been saying from the beginning...they will print whatever they want, even if it's irresponsible etc. This is the way it has been for the past 4-5 months. It will not stop. Luckily for us, a decision based on facts will be made. Shale gas has a pretty solid record, and no industry is zero risk. It is shown that it can be done in many many plays. Industries don't shut down because of a few bad apples...sure it allows the media to use those bad apples to try and discredit everyone, but that's what the media is good at doing.
The average Quebec citizen probably knows very little of shale gas...take the cab driver as an example. When I was talking to QEC rep, she said that a lot of people think shale gas is a different type of natural gas! They actually don't know that it's just the name of the rock...I mean sounds crazy to us right, but goes to show you the level of knowledge they are getting from the media. If all people do to learn about it is read papers in Quebec, then yeah I'd be afraid too. Also goes to show you that when Mr. Binnion went in to talk to those farmers, the level of support grew in huge percentages when people got the facts straight. This can't be made any more clear. If media and papers presented good hard facts and gave both sides of the story and explained why things went wrong and why things go right with other companies with perfect track records, people would most likely make the right common sense decision.
Never underestimate how terrible the media can be. They were calling on markets to fall to 5000pts when it was at 7500-8000pts...I wonder how many people bailed then...today we are at almost 13500pts. If you want the facts, you do your own research, because you can always rely on yourself to give it to your straight...it's always the safer bet.
