I saw this last night too...I wouldn't trust these polls a single bit...I don't here or anywhere, especially from a magazine that has done nothing but been biased and one sided with an agenda. Le Devoir hasn't printed a single positive thing on shale in 5 months and this poll means very little to me. Frankly the average Quebecer knows little about shale gas (this includes environmentalists that speak like they speak for everyone), and without having a clear understanding polls means nothing, because you're voting while being ignorant. Just take two examples of QEC's, your average cab driver that was completely against shale, until given a 5 minutes conversation to make me see the facts...and a 30% approval increasing to 90%...and this is from farmers who would be directly affected by pipelines and drilling...seeing the farmer approval increase means more to me than a random poll conducted on god knows who and when...I could just as easily make up graphs and charts and say approval was 70%...the idea is it is super hard to prove it happened properly, or even at all...and with a magazine that has had a clear agenda to bash, means they lost all credibility and haven't done their jobs to present both sides, so I can't take it seriously.
I mean take a look at the initial petitions against shale, the next time around there weren't nearly as many people signing. Even in Alberta you're going to find many opposed to Oil sands and they are still fighting today...but I'm sure they're not complaining too much with the increase in their house prices and the province booming with jobs. People didn't know much about the Oil sands before it started, and there were a lot of concerns too...that's normal, but it boils down to how are people being informed and do they have all the facts...when most people in Quebec don't know the fact and haven't been getting any help from media, well that just shows people are voting based on journals and media, and we all here know that means zero.
