Inceptus,

Great post. Your views have been shared by many Quebecer friends of mine. They said the exact same thing with regards to the PQ. Let's be real, they are the opposition. If things were reversed, the Liberals would be the ones saying put a moratorium on fracing lol.

Will be interesting going forward. I expect the government to please both sides by not dragging things slowly as to discourage industry. After all I think they do deserve credit for taking risks and dropping $200M on a place nobody cared for. I'm not just saying that because we own shares...you have to give credit where it is due.

I fully expect them to move this along as smoothly as possible, as we're going to need industry to drill for them to work. Also, I don't see the study lasting as long as they say. Doing studies on water contamination and seeing how they operate on a drill site for 30-40 days will give quite a bit of information. It will only drag on if they let it. We all know the industry doesn't want that, so I hope they agree and proceed responsibly but also in a timely fashion to benefit both sides.

I finally found the article:

New regulations to tighten control over shale-gas exploration would be adopted quickly, Arcand said, and he set a "June or July" deadline for a new committee of experts he will name to study the unknown hazards of fracking and the waste water it generates.

Along with that, some sort of proper royalty regime...I expect it to be very similar to BC and AB.
