Calgary, Alberta -- Questerre Energy Corporation ("Questerre" or the "Company") (TSX,OSE:QEC) announced today that it has appointed André Boisclair as an
advisor to the Board.
"With his knowledge of Quebec culture and his experience with the sustainable development of natural resources, Mr. Boisclair is an ideal candidate to advise our Board on these issues," noted Michael Binnion, President and Chief Executive Officer of Questerre. He further noted, "We need to have a meaningful dialog with all stakeholders on the real issues surrounding natural gas development from the Utica. We are confident Mr. Boisclair will play an important role in facilitating this discussion."
Mr. Boisclair will advise the Board on energy issues and socio-political considerations in Quebec. This will also include recommendations to enhance Questerre's commitment to transparency in communications, stakeholder engagement and industry best practices as it works to secure its social license to operate in the province.
"Quebec's energy independence has and remains a priority for me," commented Mr. Boisclair. "As the former Minister of the Environment for the Quebec government, I supported a plan for oil and gas exploration back in 2002. I still believe today that developing our natural resources presents both energy and economic benefits for Quebec. We have two years ahead of us. Let's use this period to engage in a constructive dialog with all parties to ensure that everyone benefits," added Mr. Boisclair.
"I welcome Andre's appointment as an advisor to the Board," added Pierre Boivin, Questerre's Québec-based director. "His keen interest and grasp of the issues was highlighted by his speech at the Quebec Oil & Gas Association's annual conference last October. I am confident that Mr. Boisclair will be key as we revisit our approach and ensure development benefits all stakeholders."
As part of its ongoing commitment to transparency, Questerre was the first company in Québec to disclose publicly the additives it uses in its hydraulic fracturing operations, and to make a French video publicly available that explains the processes of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. Those resources are available on the Company's website at www.questerre.com.
