Message: Study concludes...

http://stateimpact.npr.org/pennsylvania/2011/10/25/study-finds-little-evidence-of-water-contamination-from-fracking/

Just came out. Penn State study over the past 18 months has been monitering Marcellus shale fracked wells and has found no evidence of contamination.

The only thing that was found in a few of the wells was Bromide in a bit higher concentrations, but that wasn't from fracking, but the drilling itself. It isn't harmful by itself...and more work might be needed to see why drilling caused the increase...but that was minor.

It's interesting that all of these studies (and the one above isn't funded nor asked to be done by any industry players) including DEP just recently still have found nothing in terms of fracking, yet we still have these environmentalists talking and making up nonsense.

I think it is safe to assume that fracking if done correctly, will not have problems on wells and water. I think most of the people on this board knew that. What we do have to focus on now is properly disposing of frack water and recycling it. M Binnion mentioned before that the majority of accidents are above gound.

These are cold hard scientific studies and based on actually field work and testing. Let the people complaining complain...it is evident that they don't care about science, they'd rather just imagine lies up.

This is great news for the industry to continue to see results like this from studies...more importantly, independent studies without the backing of industry etc.
