Redstar Intersects High Grade Gold in Red Lake
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Mar 12, 2008 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- (CCN Mathews)

Redstar Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:RGC) is pleased to report on high grade gold intercepts in diamond drilling at its 100% owned Newman Todd Property in northwest Ontario's prolific Red Lake gold camp.

Scott Weekes, president of Redstar, states: "We are very excited about this first release of results from the 2008 drill program at Newman Todd. Since we began drilling the project in 2006, our understanding of the gold mineralization has increased substantially and we have now drilled two of the most successful holes in the project's history. The two holes reported here are 790 metres apart and the gold system remains wide open at depth and along strike and we still have five holes in the lab awaiting analysis. All of these holes have intersected the structural corridor which has proven to be gold bearing at shallow depths. In the Red Lake camp, high grade gold zones often occur at depths greater than 500 metres. Newman Todd has not been tested below 300 metres which leaves plenty of room to expand the known gold intercepts and for additional discoveries. We continue to be impressed by the scale and intensity of alteration and the high grade gold mineralization near surface at Newman Todd and look forward to the results of the remaining holes."

Highlights:

- Hole NT-040 intersects high grade gold mineralization in three separate zones:

- 61.02 g/t gold over 1.0 meter within a wider zone of 14.22 g/t gold over 5.0 metres or 60.0 metres of 1.72 g/t gold

- 15.0 g/t gold over 1.0 metre within a wider zone of 9.87 g/t gold over 2.0 metres

- 14.0 g/t gold over 1.0 metre within a wider zone of 7.6 g/t gold over 2.0 metres.

- Hole NT-039 intersected 14.0 g/t gold over 1.0 metre and 7.34 g/t gold over 1.0 metre

Results have been received for two of the seven holes completed during the 2008 drill program. Both holes intersected wide zones of gold mineralization within a structural corridor defined by brecciation, iron-carbonate alteration and sulphide/magnetite replacement zones. Diamond drilling has traced the zone along strike for approximately 1100 metres and to a depth of approximately 300 metres. The two holes reported here are 790 metres apart and intersected identical breccia zones with sulphide replacement and quartz veining. It is important to note that high grade gold mineralization at Gold Corp's Red Lake Mine is often associated with sulphide replacement zones."

Gold mineralization at Newman Todd occurs in quartz veins and replacement zones (pyrite, pyrrhotite and magnetite) within a gold bearing brecciated structural corridor. The two holes, NT-040 and NT-039 are 790 metres apart and have intersected similar mineralization within the breccia system. Gold mineralization is also found in quartz veins within a volcanic sequence outside of the breccia corridor.

Holes at Newman Todd are targeting gold mineralization within a structural corridor defined by brecciation, quartz veining, carbonate alteration and sulphide/magnetite replacement. Several holes intersect wide zones of highly anomalous gold mineralization such as hole NT-029 (drilled in 2006) which intersected 16.32 metres of 0.73 g/t gold and hole NT-040 which intersected 60.0 metres of 1.72 g/t gold. These wide zones are a strong indication of a robust gold mineralizing system and it appears that the structural corridor and gold mineralization is more concentrated at depth. A drill plan and sections are available on the company's web site (www.redstargold.com).

The Newman Todd property has a very similar geologic setting to the major mines in the Red Lake camp such as Goldcorp's Campbell and Red Lake mines. Similarities include proximity to a major structure, secondary northwest-southeast trending structures, proximity to a folded ultramafic body and association with a large Fe-carbonate alteration zone.

ALS Chemex Ltd. of Vancouver, BC, a BC accredited laboratory, is conducting the sample preparation and analyses of samples. Redstar is submitting standards, blanks and duplicates into the sample stream to maintain quality control. Bob Singh P. Geo., a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, has reviewed this news release and is responsible for the design and implementation of the work program at Newman Todd. Bob Singh is the Canadian Exploration Manager for Redstar Gold Corp.
