Mr. Bob Singh reports
Scott Weekes, Redstar Gold Corp.'s former chief executive officer and president, passed away suddenly on Aug. 19, 2012. Mr. Weekes lost his battle with cancer at the age of 51. He had recently taken a leave of absence to care for his wife Anne Laite, who was also battling cancer. She lost her battle, passing away just two days prior to him on Aug. 17, 2012. The company's deepest condolences go out to Mr. Weekes and Ms. Laite's families and friends.
Throughout his years in the mineral exploration industry, Mr. Weekes remained focused on generating top-notch projects and created a diversified portfolio of properties while staying true to his core values of honesty, kindness and integrity. He will truly be missed by his friends and colleagues in the industry.
To honour both of their careers in geology, she as a high school earth sciences teacher and he as an exploration geologist, a bursary has been set up at the University of British Columbia, their alma mater. In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made to the Scott Weekes and Anne Laite memorial bursary in geological sciences (attention: Valerie Titford, 1505 6270 University Blvd., Vancouver, B.C., V6T 1Z4) or by visiting the supporting UBC website. The website will be active on Aug. 24, 2012, at 8 a.m. (PST).
