Alright you science and biotech geeks.....here's one for you. I'm new to this whole "orphan drug" designation thingie. So....being the 21st century guy that I am, I googled it. Okay...I get it now....orphan drug, for rare diseases....diseases that are "orphans" and don't have a lot of sway in the market. Kewl...makes sense.

How does or would RVX208 qualify as an orphan drug? Cardiac diseases, diabetes, kidney disease...alzheimers.....I don't know this imperically, but I don't believe any of them could be termed rare.

I get though that the road to market for a drug treating an orphan disease is both shorter and less costly....and I'm glad RVX208 qualifies, I just don't understand how.
