Stock market regulations.....pfffft, the inmates looking after the assylum. In the US they have the SEC as the regulatory authority. Check out how many past directors and other key senior people who used to work on Wall Street.
I can't count the number of times I've read about where charges are filed against an indvidual or individuals...but it never gets to a hearing, instead a settlement is reached and a fine is paid, but more times than not there is no admission of any wrong doing.
Typically the PRs read something like this....
"While ABC Corp agreed to settle the case by paying a $XXXXX fine there was no admission of guilt. The settlement futher enjoins ABC from engaging in similar or like activities in the future".
I've always thought these PRs should say...."the company has agreed to never again commit any of the offenses it never admitted to committing in the first place".
Some think Canada is better and more honest than the US....but I don't, in fact I think its worse.
