Koo....I'm always learning, so help me out here.

Let's say I'm the one selling short. I borrow 10,000 shares from my broker and sell them. That sale I'm assuming is reported in the day's volume.

Now the PPS has dropped a buck and I buy them back, returning the borrowed shares to my broker. Are you saying that 10,000 share buy (back) is not included in the day's trading?
