Please can someone with a scientific background explain something to me

What is the difference between Endocrinology & Metabolic vs CVD & Renal? (my understanding is that there are two separate departments for Endocrinology/Metabolic vs CVD/Renal at the FDA)

And knowing what we now know about RVX's MOA etc and given that RVX is doing a PIII trial looking at reducing MACE in diabetics (but NOT treatment of diabetes) which department should RVX be dealing with?

As far as I can see, with such wide reaching effects on different indications (thanks to the multi modal MOA), it seems that RVX could straddle several different medical disciplines?

And can no onehelp me with my FDA vs EMA question - why is it an issue to be doing a PIII trial with EMA and not with FDA?
