Message: This week could be very telling....

If something indeed is coming, be it a merger, a boffo licensing/partnership deal or a deal with BP.....if something positive is coming soon I think next week could provide us with an indication.

They say art reflects life...and movies are an aspect of art. There are no shortage of movies that deal in whole or in part with the stock markets. Trading Places, Wall Street, Boiler Room, The Wolf of Wall Street, A Good Year....great movies all.

I'm remembering Trading Places....right near the end. The Duke brothers believe they have an early copy of the crop report for orange growers. The report they have says that the frost has severley damaged the orange harvest which will send prices through the roof. Of course they don't know that their copy is doctored and the actual report is 180 degrees opposite.

So what do the Dukes do? They instruct their trader to buy, buy, buy and keep buying....and not to worry about the price going up. Which is what happens, their trader is buying all he can and the price starts climbing...then they open their window onto the trading floor which another trader sees, noticing their attention on the Orange pit the connection is quickly made...''They know something, let's get in on it''.

The scene is on YouTube here if you want to watch it:

So what's the point? The Dukes don't have the luxury of time....the crop report is coming out that very morning so they have a very small window to buy up as much as they can and ''corner the market''.

Its Hollywood though, and the crop report they have is a phony....the guy they bribed for an advanced copy is right now dressed up like a Gorilla and in a cage heading to Africa to be reintroduced into the wild. In real life I genuinely believe there are those who know things before the masses....that aren't outwitted by a couple of sharp guys like Valentine and Lewis.

If we start moving up again in earnest I will take that as a signal that something is coming, and that those behind the buying may not have the luxury of time anymore.
