Message: We Need The Futility Analysis

fouremm, I remember that 1.43% plaque regression number with Crestor + rvx-208. I don't remember the statistical significance level so I'll need to go back and check plus there was something very positive in the control group that neutralized statistical significance in some groups. That number stuck out to me because that really got me thinking about AZ and their patents ending. When RVX got a patent for rvx-208 + rousuvastatin (Crestor) out to 2029 I was elated! I thought we'd be in the money soon. Either AZ would pounce or a competitor would pounce and get into this area of unmet medical needs.

Anyway, here we are.

Tada, thanks for the excellent post. I had read BDAZ's postings about 3 pt MACE in the post hocs and came to the conclusion that the numbers could not give us much insight. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

My feeling now, and I am not a scientist, is that the post hoc analysis, discovery of the multi-modal MOA of apabetalone, the various scientists providing guidance, etc there must be sufficient enough knowledge to have designed the BETonMACE trial to be solid in it's primary endpoint, sample size, selection and control of subgroups such that we should have a reasonable experiement.

Also, I recognize that Don has no influence over the trial. He is at the mercy of what the CSC and others decide. So that is not my concern even though I wish there was more predictability about trial timing, etc and I recognize my wish is just a dream.

As I've made very clear I am obviously very critical of Don at this stage and I've explained all of that. My academic background is pure math and mathematical statistics. My career background is 23 years as a corporate executive and I have a very good sense management competence. Two years ago I was posting that I felt Don is at the "Peter Principle" stage of his development in both of these companies. So I've been watching and I do not get a good feeling because of the way he provides flippant answers to serious questions and evades the big tough questions.

I'm sure Don is a great guy and he has had incredible success with this fantastic company that he and Dr Wong created. But perhaps now is the time that he needs to bring in a person who can actually communicate and sell the incredible science in this company. That could create very strong benefits in terms of financings.

It's great that Don is down at the Biotech Investors next week but that suggests to me he is still just throwing mud at the wall hoping some will stick. I rather see him sitting outside the data room 10 hours a day answering questions that suitors have as they assess their interest in RVX.

As has already been pointed out, the IR/PR capabilities at RVX are woefully completely in the dark and they have no leadership. This is not intended to be a shot at Sarah and Mr Paradis. I sense they work hard within the mandate they see.

To me Don comes across as a prospector looking for the first nugget at a site he has staked out. But RVX has aleady found the gold and now it is time to sell it at a great value. Don does not have that skill.

Anyway, enough. Don has been very successful and things will work out and there is no doubt in my mind...just frustration. I need to sit back and watch things play out.

Also, I need to learn how to efficiently navigate the link library, best posts, etc.

Cheers
