GAC - The way the release you referred to is written it seems almost inevitable that there will be more than 2400 patients enrolled just to ensure BETonMACE yields 250 MACE events. To my way of processing that release it suggests that they are concerned about the lack of events that they are experiencing, which I consider to be a good problem. Personally I think there will be a statement in the next DSMB report that says they have greater than 2750 patients currently enrolled. Having all patients remaining in the trial past 104 weeks is also making a statement. I will let the medical people and statisticians on the board expand on  the reasons for keeping patients in the trial past 104 weeks.
