Both BDs of BRD4 interact with an acetylated lysine molecule on the RelA co-activator of NF-kB. While I understand that the downstream or 'indirect' effects of transcriptional downregulation are many, I am still curious about the possibility of additional epigenetic effects resulting from possible activation/deactivation of methylation and acetylation enzymes.
