Koo,
This is a blinded trial. No way to know if apabetalone is working. Any suggestion otherwise is either silly talk or a sign that the integrity of the trial is compromised. There are too many unknowns as we've discussed over the past three years to know if apabetalone is working and to know what the actual placebo event rate is. Apabetalone could still have absolutely zero MACE reducing effect, a grand slam phenomenal MACE reducing effect, or something in between that may or may not be statistically significant. I agree that it is unlikely that lifestyle changes would reduce the residual risk much in these low-HDL diabetic with ACS event within past 90 days, but could to a certain extent in both groups. But plenty of room for apabetalone to still reduce that remaining residual risk.
