I think the best case is to have enough shares so that it's not an all or none decision....assuming we get to $10 and then $20+....if that happens and 2 or 3 thousand shares slip through my fingers at $10, and then another 2 or 3 thousand at $15.....sure, in this hypothetical scenario it would have been better to have all my shares at $20, but thankfully if it were to play out this way I'd still have plenty of shares left, lots more than were sold...and I'd have $50K or so in cash.
