Hi Koo.
Bear covered it off. If BoM achieves statistical significance at 95% (p= or<0.05) it is my understanding that the trial is successful i.e. there is a less than 5% probabilitythat the results achieved (as measured by time to the 1st MACE event - test vs control) are due to random chance and this implies that the result achieved is due to apabetalone. This is what we want. I have not reviewed the exact stat tests being used but I'm sure the testing company and all others involved know what they are doing.
However, I failed to communicate the point I was trying to make. My point was about the nature of the results (degree of significance) and how it gets communicated. For example, back in 2013 with ASSURE the announcement was something like ...the trial failed to meet it's primary endpoint of 0.06% PAV regression. End of story. But the story turned out to be much more positive and complex.
Had they held off until September, 2013 when the post hoc analysis began to reveal a very positive story that a professional writer could have spun a very positive story about apabetalone.
I shouldn't fret because I seem to recall that the plan is to report some of the subgroup data with the top line data???? (I think). I really feel the RVX must control their communication agenda on BoM.
I haven't posted much lately because the quality of posts is so high I can't add much. For me and I think most longs the central story is these trial results. However, the more I read from Bear and new posters I'm beginning to think the big picture in the science is about inhibition of BRD4 and it seems like other molecules like MZ1 and others areĀ getting promising lab results. I'm probably wrong but I get a sense that interest and momentum is building around BRD4 science among some scientists and this is probably a good thing because it increases profile and it provides credibility. If RVX really has an 8 year lead then it should be very attractive to suitors.
Yes, Muskoka got hit hard with high water levels. It didn't impact me but it lifted and twisted my brothers boathouse and docks...lots of repair work to be done. For me I'm being swarmed by black flies and mosquitos.
I sure wish I would have seen the San Fran post. By the comments it seems out of character for him.
Exciting times. GLTA
