Message: What happens when the database is locked?

"Wouldn't the data be collected electronically to accelerate its collection from all parts of the world and to be reviewed by a set committee (at one location) once data base lock is achieved?"

Yes, the data is entered into an electronic database, which is gets locked when the final query is resolved. As you suggested, there is likely a set committee that gets the data first once database is locked. We know the "what" and "why". The "when" is out of our control. The pre-specified data analysis plan is the "how". It is the "who" and "where" that I don't know about. One point of my last post is that it is unlikely to get everyone (Resverlogix management/IR, clinical steering committee, lead clinical investigators, DSMB, etc) all in one room at the same time (unless via teleconference). I was also pointing out in my last post how convenient it is to have some many interested parties together at one time at ESC. It could be that a smaller committee gets the data first for analysis and then this analyzed data gets distributed to the wider group. It would likely be at this point that consensus is reached on conclusions and phrasing of the top-line data news release. But I still don't think they have to be physically in the same location for the different individuals/groups to communicate with one another.
