I like your analogies Buckeyes. For myself i assimilate it with the micron technology stump for computer chips in the mid 1990's. We got the P1, P2 and P3 which sped our computers up immensely but then came to a log jam. The chip engineers had not yet found a way to make a chip less than a micron in thickness so we had to wait about a year to move forward. That 1 year is a lifetime in computer terms. Once that hurdle was jumped the innovation in computer chips went wild. Today we wouldn't even consider using a P3 with its incredible 8 or 16 megs of ram. Today we can do more with our phones or watches than we could with our computer towers in the mid 90's.

There has now been a couple of articles that have referred to the smaller size of the targets that medical science will have to be looking for going forward. I believe it was in 2000 that the genome was mapped and touted as an amazing breakthrough in medical science that would change the way diseases would be approached and eventually cured. The logical next step would be epigenetics, the next level smaller. We are there, first in class. If it works we are champs and if it doesn't we are chumps. If it works is it Nobel Prize winning material? Is this the trial that will define the next level of drug development that many will try to emulate?

Just a few more weeks to go until we know!
