cityslickers, as a physician with an interest in lipids ... how comfortable would you be, and what limitations (legal, civil, ethical) would you foresee with using apabetalone "off label" or changing a patient from one statin to another ... "IF" apabetalone were to achieve FDA "proven safe and effective" status and showing promise in other areas beyond specific FDA indications and assuming a strong safety profile overall (low risk / side effects)? ...
Just curious about your opinion as a physician, and considering the environment, for something promising NOW for desperate patients, with a good drug safety profile, as opposed to waiting for the "cover" of the FDA while very sick patients and non-responders to previous strategies could "potentially" benefit now (FDA approval) assuming all of the previous considerations, especially the safety profile?
