I would agree with you re, the placebo response rate. this has been onserved to be higher in a no. of clinical trials and thus confounding results. This has been a big issue in Urology trials and in facts one of my colleagues is in a NIH sponsored study loking at this currently. Below is a link to a study of placebo response rates in diabetics.
