"there is a second RVX presentation on Nov 18 at the AHA for 30 minutes. What do you think will be different between these 2 presentations?"
November 16th, 11:42-11:50 AM. Effect of BET Protein Inhibition With Apabetalone on Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome and Diabetes - Results of the BETonMACE Trial
November 18th, 11:30-12:00 PM. ALP Levels Predict Adverse Cardiovascular Outcomes and Cognitive Impairment in High Risk Patients
The one on November 16 is the late breaking clinical trial results oral presentation for BETonMACE. 8 minute oral presentation. High visibility, lots of attendance.
The one on November 18 is one of the many poster session presentations during AHA. This is not an oral presentation. The 30 minutes is just the time during which the poster presenter is required to stand by the poster. There are hundreds of posters on display each day. Poster sessions are a very different dynamic compared to oral presentations.
The poster on November 18 might contain some new stuff on BETonMACE, or it might be similar to what has been recently published or to be present the previous week at ASN. See here for a summary of apabetalone and alkaline phosphatase. In general, poster sessions are not the way new clinical trial results are revealed, so I am not expecting too much high impact here. I am happy to be wrong though.
