"As a stand alone therapy as a replacement for the statins?"
Statins, ezetimibe, PCSK9 antibodies, PCSK9 siRNA (inclisiran), bempedoic acid.........
These all have one thing in common. They lower LDL-cholesterol levels and decrease the amount of apo-B containing lipoproteins......proven cardiovascular risk factors. There is zero evidence to date that apabetalone decreases LDL-C or apo-B. Therefore, there is no way in my opinion that apabetalone would ever be used as a replacement for statins or any other LDL/apoB lowering therapy.
