Thanks for your comment, but it's not clear to me what he meant by "influencers."

When investigators present at congresses they are not looking to "influence" anyone. They are merely communicating the design, conduct, and results of a study, and seeking comments, critcism, and discussion from their peers. That's as far as it goes. They have to be objective and unbiased. 

Basically, it goes:  1. This is the study.   2. These are the data.   3.  This is OUR interpretation of what they mean and their significance. 4 What do YOU (the audience) think?
