When I first saw this paper two years ago, showing that RVX-208 unmasks « dormant » HIV viruses hiding in cells (thereby making them accessible to drugs and antibodies), I was so excited. Ever since, I’ve been puzzled why the company did not seem to be pursuing it. But clearly I was wrong.
It should not take too long for BP to test the therapeutic value of RVX-208 in a clinical trial as an adjunct to anti-viral drugs. And there’s certainly no shortage of patients. If it turns out that HIV can be iradicated from infected people with the help of RVX-208, that would be truly massive!
