Message: Diabetes, dementia, and ABL

I misunderstood your question.

As diabetes is associated with a two-fold increase in the risk of developing dementia, it was hoped that controlling the diabetes (lowering blood glucose by diet and antidiabetic drugs) would help to reduce the risk - and the better the control, the lower would be the risk. But this study seems to show that it is not so simple. If you reduce the long-term blood glucose level by too much, it actually increases the risk of dementia. Therefore, another approach (other than lowering blood glucose) is needed to reduce the risk of dementia in diabetics.
