This might not mean anything, but if you look at the entry about BETonMACE on the clinicaltrials.gov site the study is not listed as "Completed" but as "Active, not recruiting"

The site says this means "The study is ongoing, and the participants are receiving an intervention or being examined..."

This leaves open the theoretical possibility that the investigators have been continuing to collect more CVD and other data from the participants. Could that be what it's all about?

I see no reference on the site to an open-label follow-up after the planned trial, but with P=0.06 for CVD, it makes me wonder.

Just speculation. Time will tell.
